Ryan Garcia arrested for alleged damage to the hotel in Beverly Hills

Boxing star Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday for felony vandalism after allegedly causing an estimated $15,000 in damage at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, a watch commander from the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed to ESPN.

The 25-year-old Garcia was taken into custody at 5:45 p.m. after a driver who had dropped him off at the hotel called the police, according to the authorities.

Upon the police's arrival, the hotel decided to press charges, though details about the specific nature of the damage and Garcia's behavior remain unclear. Following his booking at the Beverly Hills Police Department jail, Garcia reported a medical issue and was subsequently transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Garcia's attorney, Darin Chavez, indicated that Garcia might also face charges of public intoxication.

In a statement issued later on Saturday, Chavez noted that Garcia's arrest comes during an extraordinarily challenging time as he is coping with devastating news about his mother's health.

Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) also faces suspension from the New York Athletic Commission after testing positive for the banned substance ostarine before his majority decision victory over Devin Haney in April, a major upset.

Although Garcia floored Haney three times, he was ineligible to win the WBC junior welterweight title due to being 3.2 pounds overweight. The commission is expected to issue a decision soon, which could overturn Garcia's victory.
