One of the most iconic atmospheres in college football is back, as Texas and Oklahoma meet in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl.
On Saturday, the No. 1 Longhorns (5-0, 1-0 SEC) take on No. 16 Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1), with the State Fair of Texas providing a lively backdrop. The stadium will be split down the middle — half crimson, half burnt orange — in this fierce rivalry.
Texas is seeking revenge after last year's heartbreaking 34-30 loss to Oklahoma when Dillon Gabriel connected with Nic Anderson for a game-winning touchdown with just 15 seconds remaining. However, Oklahoma will be without Gabriel, who transferred to Oregon, and their top five receivers, all sidelined due to injuries.
Oklahoma will instead rely on true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr., who started his first career in a 27-21 road win over Auburn two weeks ago. Hawkins Jr. is set to make history as the first true freshman to ever start the Red River Rivalry for the Sooners.
